Chronology:  1991-1996

June 2, 1991:  Sister Who’s absolute first appearance anywhere, which is as one of those attending the opening evening dinner in Paris, France, of the first international convocation of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an international political activism and AIDS-related organization originating in San Francisco, California.

June 1991:  Included within the annual Gay Pride parade in Denver, Colorado.

September 1991:  Instructed by administrators of the Colorado AIDS Project, not to appear as a member of their volunteer staff at the annual AIDS walk fundraiser, ironically entitled, “From All Walks of Life.”

June 1992:  Included within the annual Gay Pride parade in Denver, Colorado.

July 4, 1992:  Participated in the Independence Day parade in Georgetown, Colorado.

September 1992:  Volunteer staff member of the annual AIDS walk fundraiser, centered around Cheesman Park, Denver, Colorado.

November 1992 (on channel 57 on the first Wednesday during the evening):  First cable-casting of “Sister Who Presents...”, Episode 1, via Denver Community Television, Denver, Colorado.

December 1992 - January 1993:  Participated in the (short-lived) Colorado Human Rights Summit, which united virtually every minority as a single entity committed to addressing civil rights violations.  

March 1993:  The original order founded by Sister Who, entitled, “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence of the Order of Saint Divine,” was an off-shoot of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an international political activism and AIDS-related organization originating in San Francisco, California.  Since Sister Who’s ministry and activity have developed in a spiritual rather than political direction, several members of the San Francisco order have complained that Sister Who is not “radical enough” and wish a distinction to be made.  Therefore the name of Sister Who’s order is changed to “The Sisters of Incessant Revelation.”

April 1993:  Participated in a national march in Washington, DC, in support of equal civil rights for gay and lesbian citizens of the United States and photographed for inclusion within the book, “One Million Strong.”

May 1993:  Material to be included in episodes 24-27 is the first material to be recorded in Studio A of Denver Community Television’s new facilities located at 2900 Welton Street, Denver, Colorado.

June 1993:  Included within the annual Gay Pride parade in Denver, Colorado.

July 4, 1993:  Participated in the Independence Day parade in Georgetown, Colorado, carrying a sign bearing the words, “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

September 1993:  Volunteer staff member for the annual AIDS walk fundraiser, centered around Cheesman Park, Denver, Colorado.

June 1994 (on a Saturday):  Following attendance of a special service at Saint John the Divine cathedral in New York City, in which the actress Bea Arthur was a guest speaker, Sister Who has a friendly discussion and is photographed with the Bishop of New York during a reception in the cathedral gardens following the service.  Sister Who expressed gratitude to the bishop for deciding to hold a service commemorating the Stonewall Riots of 1969 and found the bishop to be an intelligent, admirable, and recommendable person.

June 1994 (on a Sunday):  Sister Who participates in the “Stonewall 25” march in New York City, which featured a rainbow flag one mile long, and afterward is filmed in Central Park for inclusion in the movie “Jeffrey.”

July 4 1994:  Participated in the Independence Day parade in Georgetown, Colorado, carrying a US flag and a portable tape recorder playing Kate Smith’s recording of “God Bless America.”

July 31, 1994:  The first pilgrimage to the Mount of the Holy Cross (actually the summit of Notch Mountain, from which the cross is fully visible and where a stone shelter house was built) on the first anniversary of the Roman Catholic pope’s most recent visit to Colorado.  The pilgrimage was done on behalf of all the souls who long for the unconditional love of the Divine, but toward whom for particular reasons of identity, institutions of Christianity are either unresponsive or oppressive.

September 1994:  Volunteer staff member for the annual AIDS walk fundraiser, centered around Cheesman Park, Denver, Colorado.

October 1994 (on a Saturday):  Attended the Rocky Mountain Book Festival at Currigan Hall, Denver, Colorado, is selected to be a fill-in panelist for a presentation entitled, “Mystics, Seers, and Oracles--Oh My,” and meets singer and songwriter John Denver while purchasing a copy of his autobiography, who remarks with his signature grin, “Nice costume!”

February 1995 (first Wednesday):  First attendance of the Dance of Universal Peace, Denver, Colorado, an interfaith liturgical dance gathering.

June 1995:  Included within the annual Gay Pride parade, Denver, Colorado.

September 1995:  Volunteer staff member for the annual AIDS walk fundraiser centered around Cheesman Park, Denver, Colorado.

May 1996:  Instructed by the administrators of Mount Evans Hospice, not to appear as a volunteer staff member in support of that organization’s annual fundraiser.

June 1996:  Included within the annual Gay Pride parade, Denver, Colorado.

September 1996:  Volunteer staff for the annual AIDS walk fundraiser, centered around Cheesman Park, Denver, Colorado.
